Samantha Cheah is an experienced graphic designer, she is the co-founder of Trilogue Art Community, the course head of Dasein Academy of Art, and the Creative Director of The Kern Design. She is also a storytelling illustrator under the moniker as YueYue.

 

Samantha's works have been exhibited in Taiwan, the United States, Spain, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and South Korea. Her works have gained media attention, including interviews with Malaysian radio station BFM, coverage in Taiwanese and Malaysian newspapers (The Star Newspaper; New Straits Times (Sunday Vibes pull-out)), and Forbes and Going Places magazines. Samantha's work has been recognised in international competitions and was selected as one of the best in Art in the City 2019. She was also a finalist in the Best Poster Design category of the Peru International Design Biennial 2019. Two of her posters were entered into the finalist category of Posterist In The World's Best Poster Design. In 2020, her poster was also chosen for the Biophilia Poster Competition and exhibited in a few locations, including Georgia, the United States of America, and Barcelona, Spain. Additionally, her poster was chosen as one of the top 50 in the 2020 Escucha MiVoz Poster Competition and shown across Mexico.

 

In 2021, her poster was chosen for the Lahti Poster Triennial and exhibited in Finland. The same year, three posters were nominated for the 4th- block of the Eco-Poster Triennial and showed in Ukraine. Another of her posters was recognised as the Best Poster Design 2021 in the cultural category at the Peru International Design Biennial. And her typographic poster was won as one of the Top 100 designs in the Madrid Graph 21 International Poster Competition and shown in Spain's Plaza de Oriente.

 

In recent years, Samantha has been keen on researching and discussing the application of Design Thinking in education, department structure improvement and graphic design-related fields. She is a strong advocate for reflection in all aspects of life, action, and design work. Additionally, she facilitates workshops and sharing on Design Thinking.
